Back to Basics

I haven't been blogging much lately because I keep going back and forth about why I keep a blog. Do I really have anything to blog about? Recently, I've decided it doesn't matter. I started this blog with two objectives.
  1. To have a place to record reflections on what I'm doing and learning as I work my way through graduate school.
  2. To encourage myself to get into the habit of writing daily (at least on work days).

Obviously, I've fallen far short of the second goal and I am rededicating my self to my original objectives.

I've been working on a literature review on Just-in-Time teaching and I've come across some references on teaching in higher education that I'd like to investigate further. They are:

  • Teaching on Solid Ground: Using Scholarship to Improve Practice by Menges & Weimer
  • Teaching Tips by Wilbert J. McKeachie
  • Applying the seven principles for good practice in undergraduate education by Chickering & Gamson
  • The Power of Mindful Learning by Ellen Langer
